It is basically about the life of Elena Gilbert a normal girl who lives in a small town near Virginia called Mystic Fall. She has a normal life with her friends and family. But her life takes a dramatic twist when she and her parents have a car accident and end falling of a bridge. She is the only one who survives to the accident and she really doesn´t get how she managed to survive and how she didn´t drown while her parents did. Since that moment on her life will change drastically , and she will discover the existance of many mistic creatures like vampires, werwolves, hybrids and doppleganggers, and also experience love.
